An easy to care for LPS coral that grows well especially when fed. They grow by the parent polyp splitting gradually into two and forming new polyps. Candycane corals, also known as Trumpet corals, feed by extending their feeding tentacles to capture passing food. In the wild this normally happens at night but because we feed them regularly you may see this behaviour during the day.

The polyps are large and fleshy with a blue green centre and contrasting beige outer ring.

Frags have 3 to 4 polyps and will come mounted on a fragstone for easy placement.

How long we've kept this coral: 10 years.

Tips

  • Feed regularly for best growth with meaty foods such as brine and mysis shrimp
  • Can produce sweeper tentacles that can damage other corals so keep some distance from other corals.
  • Calcium and alkalinity levels are important for all corals but especially so for LPS - for tips on maintaining the correct levels see the Reef Chemistry page.

        Candy Cane heaven!

Amazing coral. 4 large heads in fantastic health and obviously been left to mature for quite a while. Can safely say this is the best value for money coral I've ever bought. Add to that great service received Captive Ocean will be my first port of call for future coral requirements. Thank you!
